Research Associate

Lion Recovery Fund (https://lionrecoveryfund.org/)

Peter Lindsey is a conservation biologist based in Zimbabwe. He was trained at Oxford University and the Mammal Research Institute, University of Pretoria (an affiliation that he retains). He worked for the Lion Program of Panthera and focused on policy issues affecting lions and their prey. There are three broad themes to his work: 1) Securing Africa's vast protected area networks and finding solutions to the issue of chronic under-funding, 2) Addressing key threats facing lions and their prey, and particularly that posed by the illegal bushmeat trade and 3) Promoting wildlife-based land uses outside of protected areas, on both communal and privately owned lands. He has worked permanently in Zimbabwe, South Africa and Kenya, but has also conducted research on conservation projects in Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia and Zambia.
